In this section I will show you the main components of the Vader
suit.
First up, my favourite and most important part of the Vader
costume, the helmet.
This particular one (also seen in all pictures
on this website of my Vader) is a Don Post Classic
Action helmet. The factory helmet was dull, had flat lenses,
black plastic mouth grills and horrible plastic tusks.
As you can see from the pictures, all those problems are no
longer an issue. I had this particular one professionally painted
in the correct colour scheme by a close friend, installed custom
made curved lenses, had the correct steel mesh installed and
of course replaced the plastic tusks with billet aluminum machined
tusks.
Next, the chest armour. Custom made, and painted this fibre-glass
piece is very impressive.
The
shoulder bells attach to the chest armour with leather straps
and aluminum straps. The aluminum straps simply give the wearer
the choice of making the shoulder width wider if need be.
A superb custom paint job makes this piece look amazing.
The chest box was made from resin. It has 3 'coin slot' type
lights and various switches and lights. The lights light up
in a sequence, and make for a stunning effect. To
complete the chest box, I added an amplified speaker behind
the circuitry for the lights. That runs down to an MP3 player
with a looped breathing sound.
The box can be attached to the wearer with leather straps and
accompanying steel buckles. They make for a secure and comfortable
fit.
